North is a Home what need to be loved and saved.

Selected photographic works for this exhibition is a poetic view of the North in the century when human values and the processes of the nature are changing rapidly, in the time when people doesn’t notice the happenings and the beauty around them anymore and most importantly - in the time when this beautiful part of our planet is standing on the edge of unknown threshold in cause of ecological problems around us.

These works are created by just stopping for a moment, being privately with all the things what surrounds us in different geographical points of the North. They are like reflections to the feelings, the beauty and the fairy mysteries of nature, culture, everyday life and other observations what North can offer to us. Everything around us and in us is inseparably connected. Those are thoughts about the way the mankind goes and the direction of natural
processes in the nature - their conformity and harmony.

For these works artist feels the creation of synergy with northern literature, by exploring and searching for northern poetry to connect with her works from poets who have a very similar feeling about North and its nature, and who looks to it as to a place as special as Home.

Hele is an artist from Riga, Latvia. In 2017 she graduated from Art Academy of Latvia with a mixed media three dimensional work called ‘The North', in 2016 studied Visual Arts at Escola Massana Centre d'Art i Disseny in Barcelona and worked on a project about the noise levels in the city called ‘Silence vs Noise’. In 2018 Hele had her first mixed media work solo exhibition “NORTH 001”. So far her works have been exhibited in exhibitions in Latvia, Austria, Spain and USA.

Through her work she speaks about fragile, ethereal things trying to survive in this materialized world. Science and things beyond it are good inspiration for her. She likes to use different techniques as printmaking, film photography, sound, etc., usually choosing the technique by the feeling of the exact moment, considering the means that allows her to express herself in a better and clearer way. In recent years, she is putting more emphasis on
the feelings and the theme of the North by exploring different geographical
points of it.
